Swedish Consulate – Samsung appears to be planning a change in the naming of their Galaxy S26 lineup. This information surfaced through a leak shared by the account @heyitsyogesh on the social media platform X. Citing the post from @heyitsyogesh on X, Monday (June 18, 2024), Samsung seems to be following in Google’s footsteps with the naming of their upcoming Android smartphone series.
“Google has an unusual name for the Fold, but they aren’t the only ones. I’ve heard that Samsung will do something similar,” Yogesh Brar tweeted on his X account.
He mentioned that Samsung is planning to use the name Galaxy S26 Note to replace the Galaxy S26 Ultra variant. Meanwhile, for the Galaxy S26 Plus, the company is expected to adopt the name Galaxy S26 Pro. The decision to rebrand the Galaxy S26 Ultra as the Galaxy S26 Note is quite interesting, considering the Korean company has not released a Note series device in the market for some time.
However, with the inclusion of the S-Pen in the Ultra variant. This name change further emphasizes that Samsung’s most premium device relies heavily on the S-Pen feature similar to the Galaxy Note series. As for the Galaxy S26 Pro, the name change is likely influenced by the growing popularity of phones labeled “Pro” in the market over the past few years. Given that there is still about two years before the launch. It’s possible that the Korean tech giant may still retain the Plus and Ultra variants.
