Swedish Election 2018

On September 9th 2018 there is a general election to the ‘Riksdag’, ‘kommun’ and
‘landsting’ (parliament, city and county) in Sweden. Swedish citizens living
abroad can vote in the election for ‘Riksdag’ (parliament) at the Swedish
consulate in Houston.

-If you have lived abroad for less than 10 years (or have extended your
right to vote within the last 10 years) you will receive a ‘röstkort’
(voting card) about 2 months before the election. You only have to make sure
that Skatteverket has your correct home address.

-If you have lived abroad for more than 10 years you must apply to keep the
right to vote. See:

Opening hours for the Election is:

August 16 – August 27, 2018 during regular opening hours  (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.00 am – 2.00 pm)

Monday, August 20, 2018 open 9.00 am – 7.00 pm

Saturday, August 25, 2018 open 10.00 am – 4.00 pm

 

Ingmar Bergman 100 years

The Swedish institute and the Swedish Film institute will celebrate the
Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman who in 2018 was born 100 years ago.

Films will be screened at the following locations

August 24 – 26, 2018 Films will be screened at MFAF (Museum of Fine Arts Film)

September 7, 2018   Reception and film will be screened at Rice University, a separate invitation will follow

September 8 – 9, 2018 Films will be screened at Rice University

September 14 – 16, 2018   Films will be screened at MFAF

September 21 – 23, 2018   Films will be screened at MFAF

September 28 – 30, 2018   Films will be screened at MFAF
